We are passionate about improving literacy in students grades K-6
In order to improve literacy at our local elementary schools, our active duty service members will come to your classroom and provide structured, one-on-one reading practice with students in need. Each reading session will last 20-30 minutes depending on the grade level served. Each service member will volunteer for one hour, ensuring that 2-3 children are read to each session. They will come dressed in uniform to make each reading session memorable.
United We Read also offers a whole class read aloud session where the service member will read a book to your class dressed in uniform. They will also bring a related activity for the teacher to send home with the students or do with the class after the session is over. United We Read strives to give every student an equal opportunity to improve their literacy, have fun, and succeed.
If you are a teacher or a school district and want more information, contact us and we will decide which reading program is best for your students. No matter what program your choose, a class set of books will be donated to the classroom that we serve.
